چکیده

Abstract The low-grade metamorphic early Paleozoic basement of the Veitsch area presents a wide variety sedimentary facies domains. first domain consists thick metadacites Middle Ordovician age (Blasseneck Porphyroid), overlain by fine-grained metaclastics Rad Formation (Late to Silurian) and Devonian limestones calcitic marbles (Kaiserstein Kaskögerl Formation, respectively). Rhyolitic dacitic magmatism initiated at ca. 479 Ma (LAMC-ICP-MS U-Pb zircon data) lasted until 444 Ma. second comprises Stocker (Early Silurian), characterized thin volcanics volcaniclastics andesitic rhyolitic composition. data give (463 – 468 Ma). third domain, exposed northwest Veitsch, Porphyroid, 478 Ma), followed (siliceous) phyllites which grade into turbiditic metasediments (Sommerauer Late Devonian?). Clastic sediments Sommerauer Formations were sourced from northern Gondwana showing prominent Pan-African detrital peak 640 Upper (ca. 462 448 Ma) represent source. Tectonic reconstruction leads us arrangement three A shallow marine shelf is located in present days southwest. marginal basin with volcanic islands on sloping continent, deep-water environment containing turbidites are situated further northwest. these domains explained eo-Alpine Variscan thrust tectonics.

New ideas on the Proterozoic-Early Palaeozoic evolution of NW Iberia: insights from U–Pb detrital zircon ages

U–Pb ages were obtained on single detrital zircon grains separated from six samples of Neoproterozoic and Lower Palaeozoic sedimentary and volcanosedimentary rocks from NW Iberia using the laser ablation microprobe-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LAM-ICP-MS) method. Precambrian greywackes yielded abundant zircons with Neoproterozoic (800–640 Ma) and Mesoproterozoic (0.9–1.2 Ga) ag...

U–Pb zircon ages as a sediment mixing tracer in the Nepal Himalaya

This paper presents a new approach to quantify sediment mixing based on the mixing of U–Pb zircon age distributions within sediment. Two statistical techniques are presented to determine the proportion in which two known age distributions combine to create a known mixed age distribution. These techniques are then used to determine relative erosion rates between adjacent drainage basins above an...

U=Pb zircon ages constrain the architecture of the ultrahigh-pressure Qinling–Dabie Orogen, China

New SHRIMP and TIMS zircon ages, Ar=Ar ages, and eclogite locations contribute significantly to our understanding of the ultrahigh-pressure Dabie Shan. (1) The geographic extent of the Yangtze craton that was subducted to ultrahigh pressure extends to the northern edge of the Dabie Shan. (2) The northern half of the Dabie Shan is a magmatic complex, intruded over a 10-Myr interval between 137 a...

U-Pb ages of angrites

The chemistry and isotope chemistry of natural materials is highly indicative of provenance and process throughout geological history. Our studies range in time from the earliest solar system through to processes that are actively taking place today, and in scope from planetary systems to individual molecules. Active areas of research centre on planetary studies, metamorphic and igneous geochem...
